UPDATE ON RE: INVASIVE SPECIES

UPDATE!

Great news!!

If you recall...

On July 31, 2025, teams from the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance, LILSA, and Environment and Natural Resources in Canada accompanied Kallum McDonald and his team from the Alberta Invasive Species Council. A total of 18 samples were obtained from six different locations around Isle Lake and Lac Ste. Anne. The group also slayed a stand of Himalayan Balsam, extracting 10 Black Construction-sized bags of the noxious invasive.

We received the test results and have been notified that no invasive species were found IN these two lakes. No carp, mussels, goldfish, etc.

We'll keep working on the plants in our system, with help from our amazing citizen scientists!

Executive Director, Jennifer Janzen will discuss the non-profit's dedication to providing a platform that empowers youth to design and live sustainable futures for our shared ecosystems.

Jennifer will show us how Alberta's landscape has been altered over time. She will also show us some projections for the future.
